is ecuador a stable country?

Hands For Humanity will cancel a trip if it appears unstable. As with everything in life, there are always risks. Please check the US Department of State website on Ecuador for current information.

can we drink the water?

No, only drink bottled water. Brush teeth with bottled water.


where do volunteers stay?

Hotels selected by the group leader. Typically these are places that Hands For Humanity has stayed at in the past on volunteer abroad trips. See our Planning Your Trip section for more details.

What will the weather be like?

Look that up! It is dependent on the time of year you go.

are electric outlets the same?

Yes, Ecuador uses 110 volt, 60 cycle electricity. Same as the US.

What can i bring on a trip as a donation?

There are a various amount of supplies the orphanage is always in need of! Check out our Projects tab for some ideas. Another way past volunteers have donated is to raise funds prior to their trip, then purchase items once in Ecuador. That way you are able to provide needed items and support the local Ecuadorian economy!
